The amazon forrest is where they rome which is very dense and full of rain flooding and raining up to 400 inches of rain per year making it very hot and humid at a average tempature of 80 degrees Farenheit. There are all types of plants in the forrest from trees to flowers to berry bushes and more and lurking in the forrest are Snakes, ocelots, Jaguars, and birds of prey that they have to watch out for on a day to day basis and affect there everyday life.
Emperor tamarins are omnivorous. They primarily eat fruit but may also feed on insects, gum, nectar and leaves. They tend to eat 2-4 times a day in small amounts of fruit which they get from the tops of trees since they are very light. They eat a pretty diverse amount of food sometimes eating sweet potatoes and hardboilded eggs when in captivity.
The Emporer tamarin lives in south america and is not invasive to anywhere currently. they live mainly in Peru, Balivia, and Brazil.
Emperor tamarins generally live in extended family groups of two to eight indivuals, though there can be as many as 15 in a group. Alothough there tends to be more males in a group a elderly female is in charge of the group. these monkeys are very actice and love to have fun in the Amazon forest. groups are usually made up of extended family 4 males and 1-3 females in a group from young to old.
Emperor Tamarins are polyandrus meaning that mate with other males and 3 off springs arent uncommon. They breed from april- May and takes 140-145 days for the 2 babies to come out and do this every year after they are ready when they are 16-20 months old. The males are show offs when it comes to mating trying to get there attention from leaping from tree to tree and are called the leapers.
These wildly cute monkeys are sexually ready when they are 16-20 months old. They are small infant monkeys when they come out into the world they grow there distanct mustache around 1 and are fully grown at 2. These fun cool looking monkey tend to ride on there dads back while there mom cleans them and learn how to go from tree to tree and how to get food like there parents by watching them day to day. Males and females are identicale and reserchers havent found a way to different the two besides there private parts.
Habitat loss is taking a huge toll on these loveky creatures cause them to die of lack of space and food. Jaguars, dogs, birds, and even humans. These crestures rarely die from fighting but it is possible. hypoglycemia was nearly %30 of there death and small parisites were almost %20 of there deaths.
These lovely cute creatures and very energetic and adventerous, but on there adventures they face competition. They have to be aware of jaguars large birds, snakes, and even humans. They tend to compete over females also, but they do mate more than once so its not the biggest probelm for them. They fight over berries and other foods they can eat. Emporer Tamarins monkey arent inavise speices to anywhere as of now.
These incredibly cute monkeys are a new animal to be found in the amazon and so there population is unknown, but they are in the least concering category for the IUCN. From the mass amount of dreforrestation it is only going down from habitat loss.
Humans have there pros and cons. we tend want more and more and wood is a huge resource that is used in many parts of the world which than impact these beautiful monkeys and all creatures in the amazon. We have been around these for 119 years and are incredibly animals but we risk them having a bright future if we continue to take away there home.
