This enormous mountain range is mostly unexplored. It is reputed to be heavily populated with humanoids and giants, with towns and even cities on both the surface and deep underground. Much of the terrain is difficult to travel, with steep cliffs and fast rivers. The adjoining countries have stories of attempts to conquer the mountains, which always ended in failure. Rumors of adventurers exploring these lands tell of limited success, with stories of running into extraordinarily powerful creatures, possibly left over from the early ages of the world.
Every sort of humanoid from goblins, orcs, gnolls and the like supposedly has their own small kingdoms, which are subservient to more powerful creatures.
