Continent: Westria
Capital: Dacia City
Ruled by: Aelius Ceasar (since 1153)
Government: Democracy of the wealthy
Dominant Religion: Greek only
Typical Physiology: Dark skinned, shorter than average, average build, dark curly hair, large eyes, large nose.
Language: Dacian (Greek)
Notes: the former ruler, Septirus Ceasar, father of the current ruler Aelius Ceaser, died in 1153. Rulership typically passes from father to son, but sometimes is decided by a vote of the senate, or by other descent if the current ruler has no son. The inheritor of the rulership is typically explicitly stated by the current ruler during his lifetime, if he has no legitimate son.
The government is a democracy of the wealthy, with only those who are richly landed, family of high government or military leaders, or the like being classed as Patricians, who are the people who get to vote. Everyone else is a member of the Plebian class. Note that even Plebians are citizens; foreign born people are rarely accepted into the citizenry, except through years of residence and contributions to the country in some way.
The line of castles along the west border is called the Line of Defense.
Typically, each city will have only one large temple to one deity, the patron deity of that city or town; other non-Greek religions have, at most, one temple to serve all the deities. The government does not tolerate much activity by other religions.
The country was founded about 110 EA, but the area has been part of countries many times in the past millennia.
The military ranks in this country are of the basic Greek style.
Groups inside of the above may include Cavalry (Hyparchos or Hipparmostes) or Horse Archers (Hippotoxotes).
Groups are referred to like this: City name, Agyrspides (number in that city), Phalanx or Agema (number in that agyspides), Ekdramoi (number in that phalanx or agema), gymantoi (number in that ekdramoi), Lochos (number in that gymnatoi), though most soldiers will not bother beyond their Phalanx designation, so they might say they serve with the 'Dacia Agyrspides II, first phalanx'. A phalanx with a particularly famous, successful or beloved commander might have his name added to the reference instead, so a soldier might say he serves in 'Dacia II, Leptines Phalanx'.
