Little is known of this land, except that the predominant religion is Greek. It is possible that the island of Etruria to the west is the older Greek civilization from whence it sprang.
Information from Narvi the Dwarven sage, acquired April 1167.
Cycladia was a part of a Greek country, named Ellada. Each of the minor kingdoms of Ellada was ruled by a subject king, and each of these sub-kingdoms tended towards the worhip of one Greek god. Cycladia’s population was more or less evenly divided between the worship of Dionysus and Aegir, and over the centuries, instead of settling down, this division became heated, until the two sides split into open combat and eventually, war.
This part of the world is among the oldest civilizations, and each of these sides was ruled by a very powerful cleric, as the gods were very close to their worshipers. Eventually the clerics summoned minions of the gods into the fighting, and rumor has it that direct avatars of the gods became involved in the battle at the end. The struggles of these titanic beings shattered the land, turning what was once forested hills, lush farmland and beautiful beaches into a wrecked, smoking chain of volcanic islands.
The survivors were few. Some fled to the Minoas or Macedonia, and a few of Dionysus’ followers tried to make new lives on the bits of land remaining. Many of Aegir’s followers were transformed into water breathing humanoids, and took up life in the depths of the ocean. Over the centuries, many of them were lured into worship of pure chaos, drawing power from the beings of Limbo. Without knowing it, at least at first, many became servants of the powers of Limbo, whose names will not be written or spoken by me, and lost their connection to Aegir.
Mariners avoid these waters, and some of the mountains are still volcanic, spewing poisonous gases and lava, sometimes explosively into the air and flinging them hundreds of yards or even miles.
The slaad sometimes attack, in small raids, isolated villages but sometimes coastal cities. Their goal seems to be to take hostages, which they either transform into some sort of slime creatures, or possibly into slaads, or keep if useful in human form. T
