This town is the southernmost coastal town in the bay between coastal Minoas and the island. the population is about 25,000. Most residents are farmers or fisherman, though there is a substantial military presence (roughly 1000 soldiers and support staff) and two warships which call the town home.
Most mariners do not like to sail there, so few ships will take that as a destination. Those that do, generally leave quickly.
The town has one poor quality inn, and one that is terrible, essentially just a warehouse that is flea and rat infested. There are two taverns, one fair and one average. There is a weapons shop, but a mediocre one. There is a small Aegir temple. The town is apparently run by an elected mayor, a retired adventurer named Nicodemis, who everyone calls Nico; he was probably a fighter, as best as anyone can guess. He is about 5'3", quite chubby, slightly receding hairline, but dark hair. He is married, his children are grown and live elsewhere. His house is the only multi-story building in town, and stands out for being made of non-local stone. It's very high quality, in every way, though not pretentious. He looks like he was probably born about 1110; apparently he retired from adventuring about 1150. His wife looks a little older than he does. Her name is Theodora. He can provide travelers to Sparta with papers that will get them an audience with the military there, instead of being arrested on sight.
There is, oddly enough, a pet shop that sells mostly cats and dogs of various breeds, also some birds, but nothing unusual. There is a painter who is fair, better than amateur but nothing special, about the level of street art.
