Hurin is a nation of dwaves. The entire island has a wall on the coasts, except for a ten-mile stretch along the southern coast, near a town that is little more than an army camp. Hurin existed in a virtually continuous state of war with Goblin Island to the north until late 1168, when the dwarves attacked and either killed or drove out all the goblins. The survivors fled to the lands on the coast inland from the Giant Crab Breeding Area. Most dwarves are pretty tolerant of outsiders, except for such as orcs (even half-orcs), goblins and the like.
The hexes around the capital city are mostly farms and ranches, and estates owned by the wealthy. The hills to the north are somewhat sparsely settled.
Hurin dates from the wars of the Sixth Age, and is the oldest currently occupied city in Pendria. It was settled by explorers from Skaland, looking for new sources of wealth.
The War of Goblin Island
In 1168, a number of dwarven clans traveled to the island to join the attack on Goblin Island and the effort to retake the dwarven caves. This succeeded, and the goblins were all either slain, or driven across the ocean to the coast, inland of the Giant Crab Breeding Area.
