Figures of Interest: Henry Janyns is a master stonemason, the most talented and wealthy in Attellaria. His company has made him fairly wealthy, supplying stone for construction in Aertael. He financed the building of a road out of Northton to a small town he named Aswan, when several large cliffs of valuable stone were found there.
General Notes: This small town was founded in late 1165 by a company named Janyn Stone seeking to make a profit on quarrying several types of stone which are found on the cliffs at the edge of the mountain hex. These stones include grey granite, red sandstone, basalt, limestone and marble.
The town has about fifty guards, about four hundred laborers, fifty other workers (maintenance, office staff), and fifty assorted others who run small support businesses (dining hall, general store, and the like). The laborers rotate back to Aertael for a week off every month, so there are actually about 525 of them total, with about 125 of them rotated out at any time. The scale of the excavation is allowing the company to supply stone to Port and Caepal; prior to this, all of the cities had to import their building stone.
