Many years ago, a demon had children with a local woman. Their children had many demonic traits, but after several generations, all that stands out is that some of the descendants have minor and usually concealable traits like small horns, pointed ears, or the like. They are accepted by most of the community as just odd folk.
The ruler of this city, Scaup, is referred to as the High Aristocrat. He is a normal male human, is boring and snotty, and will be unpleasant company. He was born about 1146, after inheriting the title from his father, who died young.
