Attellaria is ruled by an inherited monarchy, supported by a web of inherited nobility.
The Monarch - the line of Attell

Queen Faithra Thaos, also rules over the barony of Trask, because she is married to the Baron. Normally the king or queen does not control any specific territory, but usually is given reign over the territory of their spouse in order to prevent friction with whatever sibling would otherwise have authority over it. Crown princes and princesses almost inevitably marry from within existing noble families.
Dukes and Duchesses
The ruler of Attellaria traditionally grants the title of Duke or Duchess to his or her children; this is currently true except for Sestare Aglarion, who apparently was not high in the king's favor, and has only been granted the next lower title, Marquis. Queen Faithra has not seen to changing this, and probably will not.
Duke Ithrindil Saraxin Aglarion rules over Northern Attellaria, including Viscount Merciale of Belegram, Viscount Greog of Port, Baron Ilien of Brindel, Baron Finarfin of Finarfin, and Baron Koln of Vindale.
Duchess Lisse Aglarion rules over Eastern Attellarian, including Baron Brack of Kir-Har. The frontier-like nature of most of the east means there are few nobles in this area.
Duchess Gormlaith rules over the lands of Tharn.
Marquis and Marquesses
Marquis Sestare Aglarion rules over the Southern part of Attellaria, including the Barony of Luingroth (currently vacant). The Southern part of the country is lightly populated and not blessed with natural resources, so there are few noble titles granted there.
Marquis Restael Aglarion rules over the western coast, including Marquis Aldrich Grendon of Grendon. Grendon is elderly and his title is an old one, granted several generations back, and it is a common rumor that the king wishes it had never happened, as the Grendon family reputedly makes is a point to note the are practically royalty because of their rank.
Earls
The only Earldom in the country is the Earl Ballard MacRorie, a large and wealthy family whose patriarch oversees not any part of the country's lands, but a country-wise oversight of magical resources and issues. He is know to have objected to the magical block put on the Aertael a few years ago, and was instrumental in convincing the king to remove it.
Bastria Eranne MacRorie, born 1084, was the first wife of the Marquis Aldrich of Grendon; she died in 1114.
Viscount
Angus Merciale of Belegram, Lionel Greog of Port, and Duncan Atavar of Caepal are vicounts whose families have ruled over these large and wealthy cities for generations.
Irdamiac Atavar, born 1112, is the second wife of Marquis Aldrich of Grendon. She is the slightly younger twin sister of Duncan.
Barons and Baronesses
Most of these titles were given by various kings for appreciation of defending and/or enlarging the country's borders. Barons include Astar Trask (a very old title, and a family that has intermarried with the royal family more than once over the years), Ilien of Brindel, Brack of Kir-Har, Finarfin of Finarfin, Koln of Vindale, and Artel of Artel.
Note that the children of nobility of ranks above Baron are generally given the courtesy title of Baron, until such time as they inherit their parent's rank of nobility.
