Lyda is one large mountainous island, Roke, one smaller c-shaped island, Hort, and one small forest island, Thwil. Three cities and nine towns with a population of about 400,000 make up the nation. Lyda is a magocracy, ruled by a council of wizards. Lyda has a history of magicians, dating back to the sixth age when two Lydans were on the White Council (and died defeating Gorthar).
Lyda's primary religion is Celtic, although there are many Finnish and Indian adherents. The Celtic tradition began around 600 EA, when a large number of of people from Graiwinor settled there. The Indian population (very small, and shrinking each year since the Indian deities all died during the Judgement War) came from Neusmik in the last two and a half centuries. The Finnish population came from a group from Xapur to the East in 680 EA. Many of these eventually moved to Keth around 850 EA.
Lyda's relations with the Island City State and Neusmik are good, as strength and politics relative to the latter are similar, and strength far better than the former.
Lyda was founded as a country in 760 Eighth Age. In 770 Eighth Age, a large fleet was sent to the mainland to colonize the coast; this colony, named Koth, almost immediately claimed independence.
Lyda has a strong alliance with Neusmik.
