Country map, as crafted by Hazor.
Pendria is the continent the player-characters live on. The name lives on from many centuries ago, when during a time of long stability consisting of most of the seventh age, the continent was divided among five large, peaceful kingdoms. These countries were in the areas that are currently Folaria, Larn, Biru (and most of the islands north and south), Keth and Attellaria. All of these countries were dominated by those of the Norse faith, except for the island nation, which was Greek; this has stayed true even as centuries have passed. Much of the continent is unclaimed now, after a slow regrowth of civilization after a period of wars many centuries in the past. For the most recent centuries, the north has been dominated by Folaria, and the south by Attellaria, both of which have gradually increased the size of their territories, either through settlement, war, or merging with smaller areas.
The countries along the southern coast are both in decline, not able to supply their populations with enough fertile ground to expand. The smaller eastern coastal countries, and most of the island countries, are in states of gradual expansion, though all must contend with the monster populations that have taken over uninhabited areas.
Calendriahn has been, for a few years, in a state of civil war, brought about by the death of its king. Most battles are not large, as this is not a very large country, but conditions have been poor for the average person, and deaths in combat tend to be disproportionately high, as the nobles leading the battles are often very powerful mages.
During the Judgement War many deities and even entire pantheons were destroyed. The years after this time saw many temples close or be taken over by other faiths, when the power from their gods no longer existed. Particularly hard hit, in Pendria, was Neusmik, a bastion of the Indian faith; with all their gods dead, and surrounded by relatively unfriendly nations, the country has fallen into very hard times - disease runs rampant, the government has become weak, and outsiders have begun looking upon the islands as lands ripe for the picking. Biru in particular seems likely to want to try to reclaim territory that was part of that country in the distant past.
Since Tunnunga was virtually destroyed as a civilization in 1143 by an invasion of dinosaurs from the northern jungles, the country has essentially ceased to exist. However, in 1165, armies from Lota began to form, with the purpose of invading Tunnunga, conquering the remaining population (who would likely view them as saviors), and investigating and wiping out the dinosaur scourge.
