Welcome to the RPM Seven Day Soundtrack, week ending Friday 30th May 2025. Here's this week's scintillating sound collage from the collective...over to...
"Hi Tim...and "Hi" to all you RPMers, hoping that you are enjoying the sunshine after the rain!
I've been dog-sitting all week for my son and daughter-in-law but plenty of time nevertheless to catch up with some music."
These Days by Jackson Brown & David Lindley -
Infamy by The Rolling Stones - "I've been revisiting a few Rolling Stones albums this week and here's a track with Keef on vocals - from "A Bigger Bang". He was once asked why he didn't do more vocals - he said "What would Mick Do?"...."
The Night Owls by Little River Band - "A great Norwich covers band (Doozoot) were regularly enjoyed by me and my dear late missus last century - they used to play this number a lot. If anyone's interested there's a (grainy) clip on youtube of the band doing a cover of "China Grove" by the Doobie Brothers via the second link."

"Many thanks, as always, for sharing your music choices last week.
Here are my three this week; one old and two very new. Had a "bird" theme running, then a friend arrived from the US with a preview of the new Rodney Crowell album. This is for Phillip if he ever drops in these days."

"This week it's a Bob's Birthday Bash theme, as last Saturday (24th May) Mr. Dylan was 84, and although I wouldn't class myself as a massive fan, he's always been around in my musical world to varying degrees and is therefore probably one of my 'musical influences'. Here's some personal Bob way marks."
Girl from the North Country by Bob Dylan - "This was a mainstay in the repertoire of the first band I played in for any length of time during the mid-80s (...bass, if you're asking...), this became - and still remains - a particular favourite. It turns up twice on studio albums; it's on Freewheelin' and then as a duet with Johnny Cash on Nashville Skyline...so, here's a live version."
Man In The Long Black Coat by Bob Dylan - "This is from 1989's Oh Mercy album, the first Dylan LP I bought upon release. I really liked the album although I seem to recall it getting very mixed reviews at the time. I was particularly taken with this moody little number..."
Tangled Up In Blue by Bob Dylan - "I've always loved this song from when I first heard it. Brilliant storytelling type lyric and great playing from the backing musicians. My second favourite Bob song after Like A Rolling Stone...which I've chosen in a previous edition. In fact, I'm sure I've had this one before as well..."
(Yes, Tim, you have....May 2021 for Bob's 80th. Tim the Archivist.)
