"Hi folks. Hope you're all well. Thanks as ever for your choices & to Tim for curation.
I'm in Derbyshire this week, volunteering at the Bearded Theory festival. Iggy Pop (a.k.a. my dad in a parallel universe) is headlining on Saturday + the Manics on Sunday. Varied & interesting line up, including Irvine Welsh in conversation."
"Paul Armfield is at the Edge of the World bookshop in Penzance this week, so I've included 1 of his..."

"Saw Stick in the Wheel on the Woodland Stage on Wednesday evening, Nicola was as acerbic as ever..."
Out of Service by Stick in the Wheel -

It was seven hugely creative days of great companionship, good food, clear skies, calm seas and fair winds which helped to make up an extraordinary, out of country (if not quite out of body) experience. Every moment was a delight.
As a result this week I have chosen a track from each of our tutors, Jenny and Adam, and one from the first mate Harry Bird. More music from the crew members CDs should get posted next week."
Air & Light by Jenny Sturgeon - "A live version of a track from her album from ‘The Living Mountain’."
I Get it Wrong by Adam Ross -
Bead Off A String by Harry Bird -
"Music this week from a new album, a newly discovered fiddler and a live gig."
Changes (Burning Suns and Frozen Waste) by Hawkwind - "Released mid-April, I've finally got around to listening to There Is No Space For Us....another new album from the space rock pioneers and the 3rd in as many years. And, as I've run on at length before, since a line up change a number of years ago, the recent HW output comes across as being more a Dave Brock solo album...which this one does as well. We have to wait until the last but one track until we get some spirited space rock / punky riffage. Otherwise, to my mind, it's a lot of floaty, meandering about and a lack of focused songs; Brock writes better material when he has an imaginative collaborator such as the late Bob Calvert, in my view. I do, however, quite like this number, as Brock would term it...although it does lean heavily on the rhythmic pattern from 1971s Down Through The Night. So, no classic material on this outing and it's unfortunately not going to get played much in my house beyond half a dozen times, methinks."
The Horse's Leotard / Connaughtman's Rambles / Pipe On the Hob performed by Justin Bonar-Bridges - "The Horse's Leotard is a tune that has been played a few times recently at my regular tunes session and after looking it up on Youtube to try and learn it, I came across Justin's Truth to Tell album recorded in 2014...and very nice too. Mostly solo fiddle with the occasional bouzouki accompaniment...I shall be playing this album a lot."
Girl From NYC by Brògeal - "An unexpected mid-week treat; the Falkirk lads live in a small cellar bar. Great stuff!"
'Til Next Time...
