"That's All Folks ( for this year )."
"Hi RPMers. Thanks to you all for your wonderful selections throughout 2024 and thanks especially to Tim for for keeping the good ship RPM afloat for another year. Here are three tracks that I've listened to over the festive period..."
Curragh of Kildare by Spriguns Of Tolgus - "I'm sure you're all aware by now that I can't resist a tenuous link.... When I saw Spriguns Of Tolgus in the early Seventies they were supported by a folk band called Poliphony (their spelling, as opposed to the correct Polyphony). I was friends with their mandolin player and, via this connection, I had the pleasure of deputising on bass with them when they played at my college folk club.
By the way, there was a progressive/jazz-rock band around at the time also using the alternative spelling."
Rich Man by Misty In Roots -
"Thank you RPMers for your 2024 playlists. Here’s looking forward to some more diverse and interesting sounds in the coming year."
Hela'r Dryw (Hunting the Wren) performed by Fernhill -
Sister Winter by Sufjan Stevens -
Wild Goose by Harbottle and Jonas -
"I trust everyone has been able to take sufficient exercise to overcome any conspicuous over-consumption. I thought I'd offer 3 items for a twixmas quiz: what is the connection between these three records? (Clue: Books)."
Do The Strand by Roxy Music -
You Wear It Well by Rod Stewart -
My Generation by The Who -

"With best wishes for a healthy New Year to all you young-at-heart RPMers"
"Music still seasonal this week and taken from Boxing Day events attended..."
The King performed by Steeleye Span - "A unintentional Steeleye Span fest this week. Boxing Day is the traditional day upon which the Cutty Wren ritual takes place. Largely forgotten nowadays, it does still happen in a few places, Middleton in Suffolk probably the most know about. My nephew decided to initiate the ceremony local to him, and very good it was too. I hadn't realised how many of the Wren carols Steeleye Span had covered, their second album title, Please To See The King, a direct quote from part of the ritual, no less."
Old Woman Tossed Up In A Blanket - " A tune played at the traditional Boxing Day Morris and Mummer's play outing."
The Cutty Wren performed by Steeleye Span - "Some more from the Cutty Wren...this is the English version of Jayne's choice from Wales."
'Til Next Time...
