Welcome to the RPM Seven Day Soundtrack, week ending Friday 28th June. This week it's the Glastonbury Festival edition.....which means next week we're away on our hols in Norfolk at Folk In A Field...so, they'll be no Seven Day Soundtrack as I'll be busy shepherding musicians on and off stage and making sure they know how to read a clock. Hope to see some RPMers there...see you back here for 12th July edition; now over to...
"Another treat to listen to all your music whilst I headed for St. John's, Newfoundland. Thanks.
Fred's Record store on Duckworth Street has been going 50+ years and to my delight hosted an in store Sunday afternoon show."
Gisèle by Adrian House -
"Heard a beautiful version of this by a young lad aboard a whale watching boat. Here's Buddy Wasisname and The Other Fellers from The Serious Stuff LP."
Saltwater Joys by Buddy Wasisname and The Other Fellers -
"...and what is a recurring theme on this island."
Father's Ship by Rum Ragged -
"A small favour please Tim; as I was compiling this, I learned of the passing of Kinky Friedman, so could I add a bonus track please?"
Sold American by Kinky Friedman -

"That's All Folks."
"Surprisingly after last week's sun, the weather has remained warm and humid. Apart from the thunderous Vulcan Bombers flying over the house on their way to perform some sort of display for the folks at the Norfolk Show ground. (As they are not really very nimble craft, I can't really imagine what they might do, short of nuking the tents full of stunt Pigs!) It has all been a bit languid here in Bawdeswell. So much so that I have had to wear my Panama hat and linen trousers... I have also had to buy myself some peach and mango cordial... then found myself slipping sideways into Bossa nova."
Corcovado by Astrud Gilberto -
Mensagem de Amor by Ghen -
"And here is a bit of a Yorkshire/Brazilian cross over to get me in the mood for Folk In a Field Next Week!"
(Absolutely! See you there. Tim)
The Waters Of March by Steve Tilson -
"Have a grand time folks - stay cool.
See some of you soon!"
"Here's my three for the week."
Shores Of America performed by Dori Freeman - "This track is taken from a new album of songs written and curated by Linda Thompson on the recently released album entitled "Proxy Music". I saw the album in HMV and have reviewed it on Youtube to decide whether to buy - which I will be doing. As far as I'm concerned this album doesn't have a duff track on it. Lots of musicians from the Folkie past including the Thompsons themselves. Love the album cover too which is a parody of Roxy Music's debut album with Linda replacing the original siren."
Drive My Car by Bill Wyman - "Bill's got a new album on the way too and he's still sporting a well aged version of the voice he used on "Je Suis Un Rock Star" but his necktie must have been really tight for the session. I must see if I can find a jar of whatever the Stones rub on that seems to keep them all going forever!"
Bloody Well Right by Supertramp - "Reminded of this when I heard it on 'Boom Rock' the other day."
"I read with interest and no little sympathy Piers' rueful reflection on the limitations of his musical abilities last weekend. I speak of course as a person with absolutely zero musical talent of my own, a source of some regret. It struck me, having watched "O Brother Where Art Thou" at least three times, as well as the documentary about the making thereof, that Piers might appreciate this message from Doctor Ralph Stanley, delivered here by Melissa Carper..."
Borned In Ya by Melissa Carper -
Heartless by Nathaniel Rateliff and The Night Sweats - "...a man who seems now to be drawing Springsteen comparisons."

"Speaking of Bruce..."
Odds Of The Blues by Joe Ely featuring Bruce Springsteen - "How did it take so long for this collaboration to happen?"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OscWhvIycqI
"Best wishes to all RPMers."
"Greetings!"
Far from Portland by Lau - "There are some good YT vids showing the lads play this live. We saw them at Beverley Folk Festival a few years back, and they were a knockout! Not just talented but engaging."

Vincent O'Brien by M. Ward - "That Lau number is pretty long, so just a short second number this week."

"Tim says I can squeeze another song in..."
(Yep, I don't consider the Lau at 7.52 to be a long song. "Long" is a whole album or complete live concert...the Sonic Pruners* will be used unsparingly, although, I like to think, judiciously. Tim)
*Companion tool to the Sonic Screwdriver, of course.
Sorted for E's and Wizz by Pulp - "My daughter is at Glasto this weekend - as she and almost thirty of her friends have been for about six in a row! - and I'm always put in mind of this Pulp classic, and hope she stays just on the right side of sensible."

"Until we (don't) meet again."
"Greetings RPM faithful, here are my three tracks for this week, nothing to link them other than they’ve either been living in my head or I (metaphorically) tripped over them this week…"
Black Sluice by Shackleton Trio -
Everything Flows by Danny Mulhern -
The Lapwings Call by Naomi Bedford and Paul Simmonds -
"Hello Everyone, I hope you're all keeping well in body and mind. Here are my three for this week... Advance warning of some bad language on the second two (sorry)."
Return to Yesterday by The Lilac Time -
Animal Nitrate by Suede - "In between a few football matches last weekend, a lot of Sky Arts coverage of The Isle Of Wight Festival was watched in our house. Some of it was quite dull but there were a few exceptions. This was one of them..."
"And this was another..."
Green Day at The Isle Of Wight Festival - "At the time of writing, I couldn't find any decent individual clips of songs from their Isle Of Wight performance... so here's the whole two-hour show so that you can cherry-pick your own highlights. I would personally recommend Basket Case (at 9:44) Minority (at 44:39) and Boulevard Of Broken Dreams (at 1:10:57)."

(Tim, I hope this is not bending the rues too much!)
(Hmmm...my Sonic Pruners seem to have malfunctioned. As you've recommended certain songs, I'll allow it this once....Tim)
"Hi RPMers, here’s my 3 this week." Spoon I ain’t the one . Grant Lee buffalo the hook . Mercury rev patterns
I Ain't The One by Spoon -
The Hook by Grant Lee Buffalo -
Patterns by Mercury Rev -
"A Hawkwind / Old Time sandwich this week..."
Levitation by Hawkwind - "I've been thining out some HW vinyl this week; Levitation was the first to go. A play test before posting out confirmed this is a bit of a classic LP. But fret not; I still have the 3 LP RSD reissue with extra live concert."
Sally In The Garden performed by Jeff Norman - "I can't get this tune out of my head....a real banjo / fiddle old time earworm."
Space Chase by Hawkwind - "Second LP to go this week was my original 1984 copy of This Is Hawkwind Do Not Panic, (much better sleeve art than the re-issue which YT are using), an album and 12" single which starts promisingly, but to my mind seems to run out of steam. On the back cover it states the recording was made live at the Stonehenge Festival...years later we find out it was just the 12" that came from there, the rest being recorded at Lewisham Odeon in 1980, which kind of spoiled the mythology to my mind. Strangely, it's most of the Lewisham gig that makes up the extra 2 discs of the RSD Levitation release."
'Til Next Time...
