"Loosely tied together under the theme of 'Fame? what is it good for ?'

"First up is Mickey Jupp, canonised by a couple of hundred old Southend die hard rockers, the Guvnor has positively distanced himself from any recognition.  For the past few years Juppy has self released a number of excellent CDs and played 2 shows a year at the same venue in the Lake District. Sadly due to ongoing health issues neither show happened this year. Get well Mickey and see you in March."

"Next up, Bob Schneider is a Texan who rarely steps out of Texas, but should. It's said (by him) that he writes about 5 songs a day. He plays a regular Monday night slot at The Saxon in Austin and no 2 sets I have seen have had more than a couple of the same songs."

"That's All Folks."

Piers -

"As I have probably written before... another week another doo dah (as the Camptown Ladies might have said)."

"A tune I thought quintessentially English. Just shows how wrong I can be…"

The Banks of Green Willow performed by Dick Gaughan - "No, I have no idea how the picture fits!"

"One I have been playing for a week or two..."

Lazy John performed by Chance McCoy and The Appalachian String Band -

"I haven’t bothered to catch up with Siba since his very ‘produced’ album Avante which  I was rather underwhelmed by when it came out.  Despite it’s rave reviews, I just didn't get it at the time. Perhaps it wasn't what I was expecting from him. But recently I came across this classic and was reminded just how good his music is and on reflection Avante isn't too bad!"

"Hi Everyone. I hope you're all safe and well. I'm off to the Deepdale Festival this weekend so, hopefully, the weather will be kind. (Have a good time, Tim.)

Here are three tracks from albums I've listened to in the past 7 days."

Rastaman Vibration (Live) by Bob Marley & The Wailers - "Opening track from their live album 'Babylon by Bus'."

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lmaAp0K9W-o

Chameleon by Herbie Hancock - "From the 1973 album 'Head Hunters'. This is a live version from 1974. Starts off a bit sparse but picks up after a couple of minutes when things really start to groove...!"

Sunflower Morning by The Greatest Show On Earth - "I have this on a 1975 compilation LP by The Greatest Show On Earth, but it was originally released in 1970 on an album titled 'Horizons'."

"Equinoctial greetings to the RPM faithful. Here’s my offering for this week. Had a lovely musical weekend last week, plus P’s session last night, and we should be off to Deepdale Festival for the day this Sunday. Hurrah for live music. (Excellent.....there's nothing like it!" Tim)"

The Scarecrow performed by Melrose Quartet -

"My copy of the Hackney Gazette, 17th August arrived in the post this morning to go with the Stones new LP when it arrives next month, so really pleased. Not that the Stones need the publicity any more, but it was a very clever (and not too cryptic) ad. Here's my 3 for the week with continuing best wishes to my RPM friends."

Tweeter And The Monkey Man by The Travelling Wilburys - "A true supergroup."

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xzMKTZdkaU4

Big Bird by Eddie Floyd - "Written while Eddie was waiting for a plane to take him back to the States for Otis Redding's funeral."

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=clvrPmTx4n4

Dixie Fried by Carl Perkins - "The underrated Carl Perkins, king of rockabilly - I loved Elvis, but Carl's version of Blue Suede Shoes deserved to do better than his."

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0HLpHr5SQmY

Philip -

"Following my selections last week by Logan Ledger, I thought this week I'd go for 3 of the singers with whom he is most often compared. Apologies if these choices have appeared on the RPM site previously, but they're all songs I never tire of."

Only The Lonely by Roy Orbison - "I trust that we've all seen "A Black and White Night" by now. If not, it's well worth a look- it's terrific."

Wicked Game by Chris Isaak -

"Best wishes as always."

Tim -

"Three from my week..."

Tea For Two performed by Django Reinhardt - "My 10 CD box set is still in residency in our kitchen...and this is from only disc 3!! Here's a solo performance which takes this tune far away from being the jazz standard cliché it can often become....in my opinion. Inspired playing."

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pGYGJ4pduuI

Toss The Feathers performed by Kevin Burke - "This tune has come up a few times in past 7DSs....and as the 7DS is a reflection of what we've played during the week, and as Kevin Burke has featured a lot this month in my listening, here he and it is again. I only got a copy of his Sweeney's Dream recording this week, so was pleasantly surprised to find that our Kev has done what I've done i.e. stuck different versions of Toss The Feathers together to make one medley of tunes....except he'd thought of it way back in 1973, 50 years ago."

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7kiHFT8IzPA

Lenny by Stevie Ray Vaughan - "I have an SRV compilation in the car CD player at the moment, which on 2 discs, encompasses pretty much all Stevie's studio output of 4 albums, plus a few live tracks. He was such an incendiary blues performer, one forgets some of his best moments were his slower tracks, this spine shiveringley atmospheric tune which closes his first studio LP, Texas Flood, being one of them. Turn out the lights....really....and immerse yourself."
