"Hello everyone. What a great variety again these last few weeks. Thank you all."
Illegal Smile by John Prine - "You'll find loads of comments to the effect that John Prine was/still is underrated, but I'm not sure that's true, since everyone who knows his music rates him incredibly highly. This early number (1971) has his trademark sly humour and has aged very well - apart perhaps from the reference to Judge Hoffman.
Such a sad loss (Prine, not Hoffman)."

John Ball by Chris Wood - "From his fabulous 'Trespasser' album. I love the dreamy texture of his version of the Sydney Carter song.
As this is a longish number, I'll only offer two this week."

"Greetings to all and more thanks for more great music.
Determined to escape the inescapable party political broadcasts and algorithms reinforcing my perceived political bias, I imagined a winter break in the Southern hemisphere. So, in the spirit of what has the PM ever done for us, I give him my thanks that I can take my leave now for few weeks closer and cheaper."

This week; a rediscovered oldie, a newly discovered newie and a resolved trad niggle...
In The Morning by Wolfmother - "Cosmic Egg, the second album from Wolfmother, was the random lucky dip disc pulled from the CD box in the car this week. Here's the song from it that I found myself humming in my head..."
Hawk In The Tree by Cat Clyde - "Not familiar with Cat Clyde at all, a new guitar student brought this song along as one she wanted to learn. Really liked this enough to check out some other songs....none of which were in the same vein as Hawk...the jury is still out."
The Merry Blacksmith / The Earl's Chair / Foxhunter's Reel performed by Lough Key - "Working out the Earl's Chair, I came across this rather nice low-fi trad recording...oh, and the Earl is sorted."
'Til Next Time...
