Welcome to the RPM Record Club Seven Day Soundtrack, week ending Friday 16th August 2024. Having spotted two "shooting stars" on Monday night from the Perseid meteor shower whilst out with the dog for 10 minutes, lets see what aural phenomena blaze across the aural firmament this week...over to...
"I had a great time at the Record Fair in Norwich recently. It was very nice to see John and Sally there and talk about old times with RPM at Elsing. I've chosen tracks from 3 of my latest vinyls bought at the Fair."

"That's All Folks."
"Hi RPMers, hope you are all well. I have picked one long song this week. I listen to it on my way to work. Just as the sun was rising, it made perfect sense."
"For a few days the weather has been hot and there have been warnings that old folk should stay in the shade with a long cool drink and some country-tinged music. Well maybe I added that last bit, but it was probably just an accidental omission by ‘Age Concern’. I’m sure that, had they thought of it, they would have mentioned these hot weather tracks by three great song writer/performers even if it has been too warm to wear a Nudie Suit…"
Somewhere Trouble Don't Go by Buddy Miller -
Gentle on My Mind by John Hartford -
Sin City by The Flying Burrito Brothers -
Go Now by Bessie Banks - "Think I've chosen before, worth another run though..."

Jim Dandy by Lavern Baker -
Let's Have a Party by Wanda Jackson -
"By the way, the new edition of Uncut magazine (October dateline... yes I know... ridiculous) carries a piece about a Norwich band called Brown Horse. Slightly dull name I thought - couldn't they have gone for Chestnut Mare or something?
Best wishes to all RPMers."
"Thank you members of the RPM collective for your fantastic musical offerings each week. This week I’ve got three tracks that I stumbled across over the last few days that I thought were worth sharing with you."

See the Moon and the Stars by Laura Cannell -
"Hi RPMers. I'm sure you all noticed last week's mistake...My Spirogyra track should have been The Future Won't Be Long but I put the wrong link with it so you got Captain's Log instead (a great track nonetheless). Anyway, to put things right, I'll kick of this week with what you should have had last week! (Thanks John...that one slipped through the tune check software. Tim)
The Future Won't Be Long by Spirogyra -

Cheap Day Return by Jethro Tull - "Ian Anderson is without doubt a brilliant lyricist.... Such an evocative and poignant scenario created with such an economy of words."

"Cheers."
"Here we go again (to misquote David Coverdale); it's spooky RPM coincidence time. Looking back at what I'd played after a rummage through some back catalogue this week, an idea came to mind. Kevin seems to have had a similar thought, theming a link between song titles. Mine was almost the same but across all three songs in a kinda reducing word-chain thing...."
Robery, Assault and Battery by Geneis - "...13/8 prog excellence from the Seconds Out double live album."
Assault and Battery by Hawkwind - "...from the essential Warrior On The Edge Of Time opus, with Dave Brock plundering some Longfellow along the way. (Apologies re the abrupt ending, as on the album, this segues into the next track.")
Battery by Metallica - "...from their monster metal milestone, Master of Puppets."
'Till Next Time...
