Welcome to the RPM Record Club Seven Day Soundtrack, week ending Friday 30th August 2024. Here's this week's vibes emanating from the turntables of your minds...over to...
"My selections this week comprise two numbers from forthcoming albums, and a third that represents a connection between the first two."
Empty Trainload of Sky by Gillian Welch and David Rawlings - "Their new album is already available to download, but if my understanding is correct, will not be issued in a solid format until November."
Real Love by Willie Watson - "Mr. Watson is a former member of Old Crow Medicine Show. His album is due next month."

"Hi folks. Thanks as ever for the excellent music. What a week, can't believe summer's making way into autumn. Work's too busy, visitors on the way, bumbling along with songwriting + had my 1st ever stint in a recording studio yesterday - more will be revealed in time.
Hugely enjoyed listening to Nick Cave talking to MaryAnn Hobbs on R6 yesterday ahead of his new album release, haven't included any of his creations this time though. I've opted for upbeat tracks this week."
Raised by Wolves by The Interrupters -
Let's Talk About It by White Denim -
Wither by Fat Dog -
"Bonus track, please TIm - it's really short & ickle...." ("...I thought the floodgates would be breached after last week's request from Piers..."Tim)

"Hi one and all, I hope August was kind to you. Here’s my offering for this week — two tracks I stumbled across and a track from the new Gillian Welch and David Rawlings album. Yay!! "
Astrakan Cafe by Hedera -
All These Things by Charlie Dore -
Hashtag by Gillian Welch and David Rawlings -
"Hi RPMers. Thanks for a great selection of music last week. Here are three tracks I've listened to this week."
Dinner Time by Cardiacs - "This is from a set of demos initially released on 'cassette only' in 1984 as 'The Seaside'. It has subsequently been re-issued on various formats over the years with slight variations. I still have the original cassette, although I have also recently invested in the 2015 re-mastered double LP (which, thankfully, has no variations!)."

All Along The Way by McCusker, Drever & Woomble - "The additional voice that comes in before the final instrumental passage is Heidi Talbot. She appeared with McCusker, Drever & Woomble when I saw them perform at Norwich Arts Centre a few years ago. A wonderful night (and if my memory serves me correctly, Boo Hewerdine was also involved)."

The Return by Comus - "In October 1970, the NME reported that Dawn label acts Demon Fuzz, Titus Groan, Heron and Comus were due to take part in a series of UK concerts in November 1970. Announced as The Penny Concerts, the price of admission at all venues was one penny!! (Old money, of course. I seem to remember that as 'decimalisation' was imminent, Dawn Records claimed they were helping people to dispose of their soon to be obsolete coinage... and get some good publicity for their acts!). I went along to The Melody Rooms in Norwich and had a thoroughly enjoyable time at a farthing per band!! Over forty years later Comus got together again and performed a few dates. I saw them at Norwich Arts Centre around this time. In 2012 they released their 'reunion' album 'Out Of The Coma' from which this track is taken."
