Designer Genes - outline

    • backstory

      • In 2028, A groundbreaking law makes room for CRISPR based gene therapy in humans, under the condition that the gene mutations only target in-cell proteins (no dna mutation)... which also means they often require many repeat treatments

      • By 2030, scientists find a way to use this to make (non surgical) body modifications, but it requires many expensive treatments to have an effect.

      • By 2032, a treatment for physical size enhancement is discovered...

        • however, the effect is 10x more effective in women than men, because they target hormone factories which are not present in men

      • By 2035, female physical size has become a direct reflection of wealth.

        • It's somewhat common for the well off female managers and executives to be over 6' or 6'5".

        • Some wealthy women, or partners of very wealthy (and progressive) men, are 7' tall.

      • By 2045, female stage celebrities, such as musicians, latched onto treatments to enhance physical growth, to make themselves 'larger than life' on stage (7.5'). As they begun to appear in the media, the trend caught on, and prominent wealthy people started imitating them, enhancing their growth.

    • Our story, in 2047, is about a maverick pharma company decides to test the effect of offering treatments to female members of their pharma sales teams.

    • Ideas

      • This story feels like "Luna's Ascension". How is it different?

        • the girl is initially trying to get the attention of the guy...

        • it's happening to all his female coworkers at the same time...

        • the women are the first "not wealthy, not famous" recipients of the therapy... which ironically makes them famous and make more money

        • none of the women have ever met anyone "upsized" before the procedure, so they really don't know anything about it, other than the tabloid new stories

        • their "work relationship" is a secret

      • What is it like?

        • pharma reps are "detailing" - influencing with their time, presence, food, gifts, and charm (including flirting, especially dr to rep)... and they get even more attention when upsized... from the staff, the doctors, and their patients... awe, curiosity, envy, intimidation, and attraction

        • the ladies candidly 'swap stories'

          • from the field, including what works and doesn't work for them (and a little boundary crossing)

          • from their personal lives.... guys, boyfriends, girls, hit-ons

          • thoughts about getting bigger (or not) and their temperment changes

          • Annette keeps to herself about her relationship with Sam, even when the girls talk about flirting with him

    • ..get together right before... and then the treatment thing should drop

      • he would feel the unfairness, because it's only available for women / and she would be practical (it's because of the cost difference)

      • he asks how she feels about it... (what do you mean how do i feel about it? you mean am i going to do it? of course i'm going to do it. Why would i not!) / i just thought, it's a big change. I guess i thought you might have to think about it. I think I would. / (no you would not!)

      • (while/afer sex) she could zone out... "just thinking about how this will change"....

    • .. maybe out drinking, one of the raunchy hot girls he's slept with before corners him and comes on to him with her new body

      • he tries to turn her down, but she thinks he's playing, and coaxes / pushes herself on him, which is hard not to respond to..

      • ...he interrupts, trying to tell her he really can't do this.. he's found someone... "aww, that's sweet.

      • she confesses that she knows they didn't really connect... but then confesses the sex was absolutely amazing...

      • "i won't tell her if you won't. You don't really want to pass up a night with me, do you?" ... i don't, but i have to... "aww, little (sam) is in love. how cute."

      • just then his girlfriend Annette comes around the corner looking for them, and sees the girl with her top off, and assumes the worst. "no! Annette, it's not what you think"

      • ... "what i think is that she has her top off and you two are making a fool of me. you can fucking have him, crystal" (she turns and storms out. sam chases her, but she doesn't listen and leaves.)

        • the other girl finds sam... (i'm really sorry about that. i had no idea you and annette had a thing.) yeah, it's new. (i'll talk to her tommorow, explain what happened. you want a lift home?) sure.

        • is there a chance she's at your place? maybe i could talk to her now. clear this up. (no, we always stay at her place. and i don't think that's a good idea anyway.) alright. well can i use your bathroom real fast? I should have gone at the bar. (sure

    • Story 1 - "sales growth"

      • Reference (pic pic pic pic pic)

      • Sam is a pharma sales rep for an allergy medication.

      • Where is this going?

    • Characters

        • Sam

        • Annette

    • Story Plot

      • His boss pulls him in, and talks to him about whether he's thought about that offer to become management. Sam's reluctant. He's social, and likes the job of being out in the field, schmoozing. Though secretly, he doesn't mind that he gets to throw down and party with his very attractive female coworkers. The boss illudes to the fact that there is something big coming down the pipe the next day. He can try to keep this offer open for him, but not much longer.

      • The next day, there is a division wide meeting, and a big announcement from their 6'9" sexy division head. They've just completed a several year pilot study on effectiveness, and determined that moderately size-enhanced sales reps garner 30% additional territory sales, and so they're offering elective treatments for female sales reps. (unfortunately, the additional costs for men render it not cost effective in this case)

        • Most of the women on his team are excited. There are a few not sure if they are going to do it, but most will. They throw a celebration party, where everyone gets a little drunk, and the women give brazen speeches about how they're going to take the world by storm -- in a way that's a bit leaving the men behind.

        • One of Sam's more tame (and tall, 5'11", 6'3" in 4" party heels) female coworkers finds him, apologizes for the way this is going down, and they way her peers are handling it. They have a chat about it. Including one where he asks if she'll go through with it, and she confesses she's not sure. Of course she's allured by the idea, but being tall already makes dating hard enough. She doubts she'll find her prince charming if she's an intimidating 6-and-a-half foot tall fema-zon. (the semi-derogatory term for women who undergo the treatment)... Sam's rewinds, "wait, what trouble dating? you're smart, successful, incredibly attractive. i expect you'd have men lining up." / "ohh, that's sweet, Sam."

          • ???? this conversation continues, where she points out that she's knows of Sam's escapades with some of their coworkers (not that she's faulting him)... and they've been friends for years, but he's never flirted with her or asked her out. / he tries to backtrack, explain that the opportunity never presented itself, and it's because they're friends. / She challenges him, reminding him about (some moment) at a Christmas party, where she looked outrageously hot, and they were flirting, and he asked her to dance, and then things got awkward.. She asks him to tell her honestly, that it had nothing to do with my being two inches taller than you in my heels. / Sam remembers. "Okay. I can explain. Yes, I was not expecting to be dwarfed, but it didn't make me less attracted to you. I just didn't think I measured up. I just assumed you, like most women, wanted a man taller than you." / "Now do you see what I mean? Imagine if I was 6'5" without the heels." / "Yeah, I guess I never thought of it that way." He puzzled for a moment. Was she really disappointed he didn't follow through that night? Was she interested in him? "Though I suppose there's another way to think of it. If I went through with it, instead of being tall, I'd be average, for a femazon anyway." She chuckled. "Or I could let the world get taller, and enjoy being the shortest girl in the room for a while." / Sam was trying to be casual, but he was suddenly feeling different about her. Aware of her body next to his. Wanting to make a move, but not sure he should. It was an unusual feeling, just like that night, dancing, and he realized something. "That's not the whole story," she turned to him, ready for the punch line. "These parties," he gestured at the beautiful people drinking and dancing around them, "they're a bit surreal, unreal, shallow. Just for the fun, easily forgotten. But we've never been like that. We talk, about actual things." His palms were so sweaty they'd become uncomfortably slippery. "I'm attracted to you Annette. You're smart, beautiful, successful, and yes, tall. But I also genuinely like you. We can't just have a drunken romp. If we were to start something, it would have to be something real. You'd have to want that too." He paused, not sure how far to take this, feeling nervous. He had to ask her. "Do you?" / At first she just smirked, awkwardly. She felt flattered, seen, even a bit satisfied, but she also wasn't expecting this. "You sure have a funny sense of timing, Sam." She'd been interested in him long ago, and frankly, she'd given up the thought. But then there it was, right in front of her. She felt on the spot. "It's probably about a year late to be having this conversation, but I wore that dress for you, you know. At the time, I was hoping it would get me more than a dance." She had expected it to come out like a truth she'd moved past, but as she said it, she felt her interest in him welling back up. / "You did?" He paused, looking out at the party. Thinking back to that night. How hot she looked, how flirty they'd been. "Why didn't you?.. No, I get it. Wow, I must have been blind. Sorry about that." She was smiling at him, pleased about something, but she wasn't giving him an answer, wasn't making this easy. "Annette, how about I take you out, on a proper date. Candelight dinner and all. We can see if things feel right." / "For you, Sam? I'd settle for an improper date. Though first I'd have to clear my calendar of all the suitors I'm fending off." She smirked, and they both chuckled. "Now, do I have to pull out my lipstick and write 'kiss me' on my forehead?"

    • Four weeks later, Sam and Annette are deep in a relationship. They wake up at her place, and have their morning getting ready for work.

        • A little kissing, and then Sam getting to watch drop-dead gorgeous Annette strut out of bed in her lace undies and start to get ready for work like she's not looking like a sexy supermodel.

        • While showering, she mentions that she doesn't mind that he stays over most nights, but she's happy to stay at his place too. He suggests that he knows how it is, it's just easier for women to be in their space. He's low maintenance, when they're here she has all her stuff. "Though if you wanted to move in together...." / "Sam. It's not that I don't love having you around, but it'd be real awkward to kick you out of bed when I bring a date home." / He cringes, but knows she's just giving him trouble. She likes to do that.

        • After getting dressed in a fresh set of clothes she let him leave at her place, he notices a letter on the company letterhead sitting on her dresser, and can't help but scan it. It's a notice about the height enhancement offer. He hadn't seen the details before, and couldn't help but reading it. Midway through, he noticed the deadline, immediately picked up the letter. "Nettie? This letter says the decision date for the height enhancement is in two days!"

        • "Reading my mail are we?" She casually took it, set it down, and hugged him, "I do need new assistant. It doesn't pay well," she brought her lips to his ear to whisper, "but I do offer bonuses for good sex."

        • "Annette. Be serious for a minute. This is a substantial offer. The financial value of a two year treatment commitment is worth millions. If I had this offer, I would jump on it. Most people would. Have you decided what you're going to do?"

        • "Sam, I've been trying not to think about it. I'm really happy right now. Work, you and I, everything is going so well. I don't want to risk messing that up. I was thinking I would wait, talk to the girls, find out how it really turns out. I can always do it next time around."

        • "And what if there is no next time?" Annette wrinkled her face. "You know as well as I do, that after this program completes, quotas will go up. They can't fire unenhanced men for not being able to keep up, it would be sex descrimination. But women? They've already started screening new female candidates for willingness to go through the program. I'm not saying it's fair, but it might be reality."

        • "You sound Kaitlin. Like the world is changing and I don't have a choice." Annette backed away, brushing her hair. "And what about us? You ignored me for a year because I wore heels to a party. What happens to us when I'm legitimately five inches taller than you?"

        • "Seriously?" He touched her shoulder, getting the attention of her eyes. "I did not ignore you for a year, and I really care about you. I don't want you to miss a big opportunity."

        • "Ohh yeah, big shot? Promise me it won't affect us. Promise me it won't make you feel differently about me. Ohh, here, wait." She disappeared into her closet. "Just a minute," she called back. Then she emerged, wearing the tallest crazy platform heels he'd ever seen, and shit she was tall.

        • "Whoa. Nettie, seven inch platforms? Is there something you're not telling me?" She didn't say a word, just sauntered up to him with a slight imbalance. It was fun, and playful, and truthfully she looked incredibly sexy if not for her awkward gait. Then she stepped so close he was forced to confront the reality of staring at her collarbone, her neck, and the underside of her chin. The reality started to set in. She could actually be like this, all the time. He set his hands on a waistline above his navel, and felt that nervous energy he only got around Annette, nervous and slightly intimidated. Only it made him want her more, as he gently caressed her side, admiring her.

        • "I bought these just to see what it would be like. I didn't show you because we were so new. Then things started going well with us, and I decided this just wasn't as important as you and I." She had leaned back so their eyes could meet, her looking down, him looking up. It was different, really different. "But if you want me to consider it, take it in. Imagine what it'll be like for us to be out like this, what people will think, how you'll feel."

        • He knew what she meant. Enhancement meant more than success. It was a class distinction, a wealth distinction. People would assume she was the successful wealthy one, and he was not. In truth neither of them was wealthy enough to afford enhancement, but this type of employer program was so new, that even if it became more common it would be years before it was understood. Then something occurred to him.

        • "Annette, the thing is, not going through with this won't change any of this. More than half our sales team is women, most of whom will go through with this. So I'm going to be surrounded by enhanced women at work. And the whole reason the company is doing this, is to sell more product and make more money, which means most of them very well may make more than me. If not at first, then eventually, after the initial treatment costs are covered. And that's assuming most of you don't make more than me already, which is very much a possibility.

        • "Our relationship is very new, but I really care about you, and if we are together in six months, a year, or longer, I want those things for you. I can't promise you things won't be different, but if you want to do this, I don't want to be the reason you don't." Annette tiled her head, looking a little puzzled. "What?"

        • "Well, I guess I didn't expect that. "

          • ??? howto close this scene ???

          • Though even with those good intentions, we both know the enhanced thing doesn't do it for all men. Are you still going to be attracted to me if you have to look up at me all the time, and struggle to give me a kiss?" She was half playfully kidding, and half dead serious.

          • "Annette, if this little test of yours is any indication, I don't think there will be *any* trouble, because I'm incredibly turned on right now."

          • "Ohh really?" She reached down and gently brushed the front of his pants. "Well well. I guess I should have pulled these shoes out weeks ago. We can't very well send you off to work like that, now can we?"

      • Another four weeks later, Annette is 6'3" ? and substantually more boxom.

        • ? Sam's eyes keep drifting to her cleavage, and she kind of likes to tease and torture him about it...

          • "i can't believe i was worried you wouldn't be into me after I went through with it."

    • Another two months later, Annette is 6'6" and confident, almost dominant.
