This words will be very helpful when you are analyzing someone else's writing or their argument.  For example:

The author articulates her argument clearly, using a logical progression of ideas to build her case. However, while she attempts to substantiate her claims with anecdotal evidence, she lacks the statistical data that would make her argument more compelling. Additionally, she juxtaposes opposing viewpoints to highlight the weaknesses in counterarguments, yet her tone at times seems dismissive rather than analytical. Though she does concede minor points to acknowledge alternative perspectives, she ultimately fails to reinforce her central claim with the depth of evidence necessary to persuade a skeptical audience.
