Halloween Night by Ella Luisi ('25)

Roses on the table

Black as char

Slowly wilting away

The beautiful red color nowhere to be seen

Their menacing thorns seem to sharpen

As the night grows darker

The yellow moon becomes brighter

You can feel it in your bones

The ache and shiver

Halloween is approaching

Black cats with bright and evil eyes wander the streets

While apparitions haunt those of us still awake

The trees outside stretching into hands that will trap you

The wind banging on the windows of dark houses

Anticipation to see the sun grows

More is yet to happen

Before the night is over...
