Boys Volley for a Cure!

The Boys Volleyball team have hit the ground running in their 2023-2024 season! With a record of 7-3, the boys have been playing better than ever! The team is currently ranked 11th in New York, and 5th in their Section. Team Captains Max Fausel (‘24) and Jaden Quezada (‘23) are ranked 2nd and 3rd for most kills per set. This team is filled with great sportsmanship, teamwork, and of course, amazing skill!

On October 11th, both the boys JV and Varsity teams played against Clarkstown South in their Volley for a Cure game. This was a very special occassion, for it was in honor of childhood cancer. The boys dressed in gold jerseys to support and represent the cause. Two children, both of whom fought hard against childhood cancer, attended the game to cheer on our team. Jelien wore her strong warrior cape the entire game, demonstrating to everyone how strong of a fighter she is. Joe attended the game with both his brother and father, and gave a beautiful speech of how much everyone being there meant to him. These two have both successfully fought and beat cancer! Both were awarded by ringing the bell, representing being cancer free.
Some of our National Honor Society members volunteered to sell snacks during the game. All profits made were donated to children with childhood cancer. We made a huge profit in the hopes of benefitting children's lives.
The boys continue their season, working hard and fighting for every point on the court. Throughout their season, the team has won many games, proving how strong of a team they are! Both Alexis Valenzuela (‘25) and Christian Oberfell (‘25) have had some amazing plays this season. Christian leads the team with a total of 50 kills! Alexis helps lead them to victory with 44 digs! Both team members have been helping the varsity team win, bringing lots of skill to the court every time, which is evident whenever they play.
