Music Tastes of NR!

As students, many of us love music and use it as a way to escape the monotony of the school day. We use apps to stream our music, such as Spotify, Apple Music, and others that provide us with music on and offline. We all know what we like and what can get us out of a bad mood and into a better headspace. But, have you ever wondered what your peers are listening to? In this article, we’ll be exploring what the students of North Rockland High School have in their music playlists.
We created a survey for students to take regarding their preferred music genres with an optional choice of listing their favorite musical artist(s). Here are the results.
As shown in the data above, Pop came in first place as the most listened to genre in NRHS. In second place was Rap, and in third was Hip-Hop. The ranking is shown below.
Some popular artists NR students listen to include Kendrick Lamar, Taylor Swift, Tyler the Creator, Lana Del Ray, Drake, The Weeknd, Romeo Santos, Bad Bunny, BTS, BABYMETAL, Billy Joel, Olivia Rodrigo, Mitski, Bruno Mars, Grimes, and Radiohead. These artists are not listed in order from greatest to least, but are just some of the most repeated ones.
Music is a great way for you and your peers to get to know one another. Try finding someone who likes similar music as you, and start a conversation about it. You’ll most likely find it’s a much more interesting topic than you may think. Plus, you’ll make some new friends along the way!
