To Party or Not to Party?

As school comes to an end, final exams, Regents, and AP exams fill the minds of most North Rockland Students. In the midst of these stressful events, there are experiences which lighten the strenuous mood. As a high school student, there are special moments one looks forward to, be it Homecoming, Spirit Week, Graduation and…Prom!  Without a doubt, Junior year is the most taxing year of all 4 years of high school, since students strive to fulfill their academic potential, take AP classes, SATs and begin their college search. Adding to these pressures, students also gather outside experiences such as working their first jobs and passing their road tests. Although these times can be fun, they could also be tiring, which is why events such as Spirit Week and Junior Prom are necessary.  It gives hard-working Junior something to look forward to.

Junior Prom is necessary as it gives students an insight into what Prom might be like their Senior year. This includes gaining experience in outfit shopping and fundraising. This year our class advisors Mrs. Mitchell and Mrs. Rivera worked hard by coordinating with class cabinet members to limit the cost of junior prom tickets and fundraise for senior year through selling chocolate bars and empanadas. Preparing for Junior Prom is not only fun and exciting but educates and prepares both students and teachers alike for the future. Since the prom was fun and exciting it also gives students something to look forward to their senior year.

If you’re still unsure if junior prom is necessary or not… It is! Trust me, I didn’t really want to go at first as I am a homebody. Needless to say, I definitely do not regret my choice to go. Sure, it was in between AP exams, but at least it was one night of relaxation and fun in the midst of stress. The experience also was pleasant and entertaining, with music blasting through the room, high end decor and flavorful food. Junior Prom gives students an opportunity to be expressive, especially in their outfit choices, and I kid you not, the Class of 2023 shows up when needed with pretty much everyone dressed in chic and elegant attire.
