Thanksgiving: Ranked

By Kelly Barros ('23)

Think about one thing that makes you happy. You can see it, hear about it, or have it, and it’ll bring you joy. It brightens your day and even life. This thing can be different for many people, and that is what makes Thanksgiving a unique, yet uniting experience.

The reason for my peace and joy is food. What better day than Thanksgiving, or Turkey Day, to be thankful and full of food in your stomach? It’s one of my favorite times of the year, not only because of food, but because I get to spend time with family and friends! There have been many controversies over what the best Thanksgiving foods are. Now I can’t speak for everyone, but just your classic turkey is the way to go!

Who doesn’t love a savory, juicy, and delicious turkey. For your feast, make sure you enjoy every single bite of it! And if you don’t eat turkey then enjoy this cute picture of a gobbling one!

2. Pumpkin Pie!

If you have not had the pleasure of having pumpkin pie, you might want to grab your keys or a ride and head to the nearest bakery. The amazing texture and deliciousness of pumpkin pie will make you go nuts!

3. Mashed Potatoes!

Let's be honest, these are really  everyone's favorite! You can't go wrong with mashed potatoes. The fluffy and creamy flavor are to die for! Whether you build a well and fill it with gravy or make it the supporting center of your plate, mashed potatoes are a must-have at the table!

4. Various Different Types of Bread!

Bread is seriously one of the most overlooked foods at the Thanksgiving table. It's there, you reach for it, but you don't realize how good it is. Who doesn’t enjoy the taste of soft warm bread? Dip it into some sauce and enjoy the flavor.

5. Gravy!

Gravy is a part of many peoples’ celebrations. It's a saving grace if your relatives made dry turkey (Sorry, Grandma!). Not my personal favorite but based on common vote, very delicious!

6. Cranberry Sauce!

According to experts, AKA my friends, cranberry sauce is super delicious. Now you could call me uncultured, but I have not had the pleasure of having this amazing sauce so do not take my word for it!

BONUS: Teacher's Favorite!

According to Mr. Lefkow, the king of the guitar himself, sweet potatoes with marshmallows is one of the best Thanksgiving dishes! I guess it has something to do with the marshmallows...or how sweet the potatoes are? Either way, a delicious treat!
