Why You Should Join The Rambling Raider!

By Olivia LoPresti ('22)

Here at the Rambling Raider, we are always looking for more writers, designers, editors, and more to join our team!  If you weren’t so sure as to what the joys of being a part of The Rambling Raider are, here are a couple of reasons to join the team and participate in the Rambling Raider:

Even if you don't enjoy writing, getting the experience of researching and writing an article will help you grow as a writer. Our editors will work with you and give you tips and constructive feedback to help you learn different writing techniques and improve. Occasionally, we will have guest speakers from notable publications such as The Journal News and The Harvard Crimson at our meetings to give us tips for writing, research, and general help!

Many English teachers offer extra credit if you write for the Rambling Raider so I would recommend asking them. Even if you join to get extra credit, the experience is one to remember! You never know; you might end up loving journalism! Personally, the extra credit was one of the main reasons why I joined, and even now, I still choose to continue on with the club for my own enjoyment.

There are so many different positions on the Rambling Raider. You can help with the design and technology of the website, manage social media accounts, edit other people's work, be a photographer, and so much more! The club is very inclusive for many different artforms and interests!

Not only do you learn how to communicate ideas better and more efficiently, and get the experience of working with others toward a common goal, but you also experience the more fun, goofier meetings. The staff on The Rambling Raider ensure that the club is not always serious and stringent, and make sure that there is always laughter in the air.

Here at the Rambling Raider, we recognize that many students participate in clubs for their resumes, so while you should be participating in activities you enjoy, the school newspaper will look really great on your application. If you are interested in becoming a writer, journalist, or even a lawyer, we can help! The Rambling Raider is wonderful in helping you in your journey off to college!
