2024 Grammy Nominations

By Isobel Edmonds ('24)

The GRAMMYs are an American award show for music. The Recording Academy of the United States decides upon winners of certain awards based on set criteria. First, artists and producers and their songs/albums are nominated and then narrowed down to the winner. On November 10th of this year, the Grammy Nominations were released. These nominations include artists, albums, and songs. The general categories include Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best New Artist, Songwriter of the Year, and Producer of the Year.  Winners will be announced during the televised awards ceremony on Sunday, February 4th, 2024. Each nominee for the categories is listed below:

Along with these general nominations, artists were also nominated for different awards in their genre. This year, there were a few nominations that many don’t agree with, such as Olivia Rodrigo being nominated under the rock genre for one of her new songs “Ballad of a Homeschooled Girl.” Some fans think that while the song and the album, GUTS, as a whole has some rock elements, that it's more pop rock than just rock.

On the whole though, most people are excited to see what the outcome is for next year’s GRAMMYs and are already making their predictions. The 66th annual award show is set to take place on February 4th, 2024, with three new categories debuting that day (Best African Music Performance, Best Alternative Jazz Album, and Best Pop Dance Recording). This year’s host has yet to be announced but will most likely be revealed next month.
