Taylor Swift's New Midnights Album!

By Yamilet Chabla Urgiles ('25)

Hello reader, welcome back to another segment of bringing you exciting news! Today’s is that Taylor Swift is about to release a new album dropping on October 21, 2022, at midnight! Taylor has been dropping the track titles on TikTok,  in a series known as “Midnights Mayhem with Me”, and we now know what all of the track names are. She first revealed the eight tracks (at midnight of course) with the help of the bingo-ball cage in order to randomize the order in which  each track got announced. She made several TikToks announcing the names of these tracks and I scrolled through them to find out what the names of the tracks everyone wanted to know are.

She cleverly announced these tracks 13 days before they would be released. On October 7th, Taylor decided she wanted to, in her words, “mayhem till the morning" and announce the track names every hour.  Track 11 is called "Karma" which may or may not be a reference to the alleged unreleased album of the same name that was supposed to come out in 2016.  The album's first track “Lavender Haze” was inspired by her romance with Joe Alywn, of Mad Men, and encompassing a “love glow.” The song is about doing whatever possible to stay in the love glow phase of relationships. “Anti-Hero” is one of her favorite songs and is about her insecurities and being her own enemy.

Taylor picked what track titles are to be revealed by using a metal bingo cage spinner on her TikTok page!

The collab of the century, one we have all been waiting for, is on track four, “Snow on the Beach” that will feature Lana del Rey! They are finally collabing together! I always wondered what would happen when blending two incredible artists in a single song. Many have noticed Taylor has worn the same outfit to announce track nine, Bejeweled, as one in the “All too Well” film. This  may be an obvious indication of what the song will be about. If you put the pre-vinyls together they form a clock in which you can tell time.

These tracks were inspired by the stories of 13 sleepless nights throughout her life. She co-wrote with Jack Antonoff, but the majority of the songs are written by her.
