Harrison's Farewell

Dear Readers,

Thank you so much for taking the time to read Volume 50 of The Rambling Raider. None of our work this year could have been done without my fellow Senior Editors, Maria Tedesco, Steven Martinez, and Manjot Kaur, as well as our Technology Manager Saad Mujahid who made our fabulous logos and Raider Reports throughout the year. I’d also like to especially thank our Junior Editor-in-Chief Gabby Ceconi, in whom I have total confidence for leading our group for next year. Both guiding Gabby and working alongside her has been an amazing experience. I am so proud that she will carry on The Rambling Raider legacy throughout her senior year, with a new board of editors and new positions.

To Mr. Ludwig, thank you so much for giving us the opportunity this year to become more independent writers, thinkers, and hence lifelong learners. We developed a deep trust with you, and we are very thankful to have the freedom to publish on our own calls. Thank you, Dr. Gill and Mr. Baloga, for promoting our newspaper throughout the year. Those early morning emails we sent you to publicize our editions were rather early morning schedule sends, if you get the gist. However, those late-night hours of editing with Gabby were so rewarding. They gave us real experience of the press rooms, as we gained experience in the real hustle-and-bustle of professional journalism. Lastly, thank you, Mr. Schneider, for paving the way for Gabby and me to get involved in The Rambling Raider. We appreciate your commitment to the paper and your extra credit-granting magic.

This year was filled with lots of new experiences for The Rambling Raider. 10 editions, 94 articles, wow! Even a satire edition! Deciding to move online to Google Sites was not easy, but we are so pleased with the results. As of June 14th, we have had well over 6,000 individual readers this year… quite a bit more than previous years with our outreach. Additionally, we hosted our first series of staff development with journalism professionals and collegiate writers. We shared our photography with our yearbook The Recensio to add to each other’s production. We lastly started an Instagram and revamped our Twitter to expand our community. I’m very excited to see what happens next year with Gabby, as we decided to add some new positions to diversify our publication.

With the year at a close, I’d like to announce the provisional 2021-2022 Editorial Board: Gabby Ceconi, Olivia LoPresti, Kelly Barros, Kevin Cahill, Christina Muttavanchery, and Valentina Omotosho. Congratulations to all new leadership, and you will work with Gabby and me on your roles for the upcoming year.

Thank you again, individual readers, for staying committed to our publication, answering polls, and providing feedback. It truly brightens my day to read your responses and then work to ensure that our editions are better each time. We couldn’t have done it without you. It has been an honor serving our community. I leave all my best for the next legacy of passionate journalists.

Warmly,
