Classifications Categories
Sedentary/ Light
A sedentary/ light position is classified as a role where a worker is required to perform occasional lifting and/or carrying such as small tools. This classification is generally defined as a job role that involves sitting with the requirement for applicants to occasionally walk and/or stand. Applicants may be required to push and pull forces at waist level between 2-5kgs (other lifting requirements are specified below).
Medium
A medium position is classified as a role where a worker is required to lift and/or carry objects frequently and spend a lesser amount of time sitting down. Applicants may be required to push and pull forces up to 10kgs at waist height (other lifting requirements are specified below).
Heavy/ Very Heavy
A heavy/ very heavy position is classified as a role where a worker is required to lift and/or carry objects more frequently with the potential to push objects that are 24kg+ and pull objects that are 20kgs+ at waist level (other lifting requirements are specified below). Applicants are likely to be on their feet all day completing physically demanding tasks.
Surface Vs. Underground
The classifications below are based upon positions that are working at surface level, these classifications may be different for applicants working underground. As most positions underground are more physically intensive meaning the classification may be greater.
