Individual work areas / stations are to be kept neat and tidy. Please remove unnecessary paperwork from the desk.
The waiting room is to be kept neat and tidy. Please straighten/tidy magazines, chairs, etc. as needed. Torn magazines should be disposed of as soon as possible. Utilise the vacuum for spot cleaning the carpet of dirt and debris.
Treatment / Consulting Areas:
Prior to / Following Each Treatment
- Bed is to be lowered to appropriate height following each client.
- Sheets are to be straightened and wiped with dry cloth if necessary.
- Face hole is to be cleaned with wipes (located in cabinet).
- Pillows are to be placed back on bed.
- New face sheet placed on headpiece of bed.
- Creams, lotions and all other material to be returned to rightful place.
- Cords and cables are to be neatly coiled and hung back into place.
- If linen is not presentable, advise reception to change linen.
- If the floor is dirty utilize the carpet sweeper to spot clean.
During Treatment Sessions
- Instruct clients to remove boots / shoes prior to lying on bed.
- If pillows are removed from bed during course of treatment, please do not place them flat on floor - lean them against wall or place them on a chair
- Consider whether use of cream / gel will result in soiling of linen or client’s clothes. If it will place protective sheet (face sheet) or tissues to protect from soiling.
- Place any soiled towels into laundry and restock room with appropriate replacement linen.
General supplies (i.e. plates, forks, glasses) have been provided for your use. You are responsible for cleaning and returning the used supplies to their rightful place.
Splatters in microwave should be wiped clean immediately after heating food.
Staff is to advise if stock levels are low on supplied items (i.e. sugar, milk, tea)
No food is to be left overnight in the fridge. Any containers left in the fridge will be disposed in rubbish on Fridays. The clinic is not responsible for loss of items.
Please try to keep the desks free of charts, papers, notes, etc as space is limited. Please keep these items in your respective file slot.
Please keep shelves in a neat a tidy state.
Due to limited space therapists will have assigned file slots but no assigned desk space. Please be cooperative.
Closing Individual Work Areas
Individual work areas should be considered the personal responsibility of the staff member working there at the time. The general guidelines are as follows:
- Wipe down bed and rails
- Wipe down marks off wall
- Tidy drawers and counter tops
- Set out work for next day
- Close/lock computers
The practice rubbish removal procedure is as follows:
- Bags are to be lifted from overhanging flap around rubbish bin.
- Material is NOT to be pushed into, compressed or otherwise manipulated in the rubbish container with hands or feet.
- Bag to be held away from body and tied.
- Bags are NOT to be placed into any other rubbish bags. Material is NOT to be pushed into, compressed or otherwise manipulated once bag has been removed from rubbish container.
- Individual rubbish bags are to be carried to the skip bin.
- Bags must be capable of being held off the body, if this is not possible with carrying all the collected bags then multiple trips are to be made.
- Receptionists are not to make contact with any hazardous waste. Disposal of this waste will be performed as per federal, state and local guidelines by an appropriately trained individual.
- If hazardous waste/materials are identified no contact is to be made with this item. Notify the director immediately and appropriate action will be taken.
