Cardiovascular Screening

AIM

• To perform accurate examination of the cardiovascular system using recognized tests and systems.

TESTING PROTOCOLS

• Ensure you complete all areas of examination.
• Review the job description and job demands forms.
• Cardiovascular testing is PERFORMED PRIOR TO TESTS WHICH MAY ELEVATE HR on all pre-employment / FCE testing. Ensure you document resting heart rate / blood pressure as required before commencing test.
• Cardiovascular requirements vary based on the company, ensure you have reviewed what type of cardiovascular test they require prior to undertaking the exam.
• If you are unsure of testing protocols please review the following material or contact clinic director for clarification.

STOP TESTING / DEFER TESTING

• High resting blood pressure
• High resting heart rate
• Exceeding maximal heart rate
• Symptomatic (dizziness, excessive shortness of breath) or not safe.

DOCUMENTATION

• All test areas are to be completed and commented on.
• Make a definitive, clear and concise determination and recommendations where requested.
