BHP - Offsite Injury Management (96hrs)

We will periodically be referred BHP employees for management of work-related injuries. This will be booked in by either the site physiotherapist or the site nurse / medic.

A BHP physiotherapy referral should be received, outlining:

• event summary
• injured body part/area
• clinical history
• current treatment
• PRDs (precautionary restricted duties)
• key job requirements

In the first 96hrs from referral you can treat the injured worker as much as reasonably required to ensure that they are able to return to their normal role / demands. Please refer to the documents below to help manage the communication and treatment of these individuals.

Keep the summary of findings and treatment brief. These do not need to be detailed.

If you believe the injury is going to extend beyond 96hrs please contact the site physio, medic/nurse. Similarly if you believe they need rigid splinting, medical imaging, specialist referral liaise with site.

Theraband and kinesiotape can be supplied. Other equipment needs to be authorised by site.
