Pre-employment Procedures

Audiometers: Annual calibration (Off site: Precision Acoustics). Each audiometer is sent on separate occasions to ensure at least one audiometer is located on site at Goldfields Physio at all times.

Audio Booths: 3 yearly calibration / noise assessment (On site: Precision Acoustics)

Spirometers and 3L syringe: Annual check (On site: Medelect)

Breathalysers: Annual calibration (Off site: Royal Medical). Each breathalyser unit is sent on separate occasions to ensure at least one breathalyser is located on site at Goldfields Physio at all times.

It is the responsibility of the practitioner to ensure all equipment and consumables used, are within their expiry/calibration date prior to commencement of all Pre-Employment Medicals.

Audiometers: Daily Biological Check (prior to commencement of PEM)

Spirometers: Daily 3L Single Flow Calibration (prior to commencement of PEM)

Point of Care Devices (Accutrend Plus + CardioChek): Monthly Calibration

All abnormal findings require referral to a GP for medical opinion/clearance.

'Criteria for GP Referral' documents are located on the wall in both PEM rooms. The candidate must return a letter from their doctor within 2 weeks of their medical date. Once the GP letter is received, the PEM can then be forwarded to Knight Health for determination.

PEMs completed at Goldfields Physio are valid for one month from the original PEM date.
