Negative Space leaf Drawing

1) in this project I used pencil to sketch my ideas out I then finalised my ideas with a micron and then added color. 2) the idea behind this project was to draw the outlines of leaves in such a way that left interesting negative space behind. we then filled the negative space in with whatever we wanted. I for one, went with a jungle theme. 3) My project started out as a sketch of the dandelion leaves, when I was happy with their location I went over the sketch with micron. i then added in various animals (a flying lizard, a monkey man and a rhino) starting with a sketch and then going overtop with a micron. after I had my main subjects I added some background elements such as hills clouds and trees. these objects added context to the animals. there is also a mango at the bottom middle of the drawing; this acts as a title to the piece it also goes along with the jungle vibe.

for the composition, I used line and shape to create balance and unity throughout. Using the same colors also creates unity. I also created movement with the use of line around the flying lizard. I emphasized the mango by not using mango colors many other places in the drawing (The flight flaps of the flying lizard and he sun).

1. To evaluate, 1) the main idea present in the drawing is that all the animals are coming out of the jungle to the mango. This gives the mango a centerpiece making it the heart of the jungle. 2) This project relates to my life in two ways: I like rhinos and I like mangos. 3) my favorite part of my drawing is the flying lizard. I like the way you can tell it's swooping down out of the sky or off a branch. The colors I chose for it also make it stand out, as well as look cool.
