For this project I chose the prompt an airplane with butterfly wings. My first thought was a Blue Morpho butterfly. Then an airplane and that made me think of Jetblue as a joke. I went with a humorous interpretation, keeping it simple and almost cartoon like.

I started with a graphite sketch and covered that up with colored pencils. I liked the freestyle colors I went with, and how the pencils allowed them to blend cohesively.

My first sketch was exactly what my drawing looks like now, line wise. I quickly formed my idea and stuck with it. I placed the drawing at the top of the paper because it's a flying object. then I grabbed random colors for the wings and challenged them to work together. I think this worked out well. My favorite part is the antenna I added to the front of the plain. another detail I added was the spots along the body of the plain which are meant to be more natural looking passenger windows. Over all this was a quick peace but it has nice details and vivid color.
