My idea to finish this timed portrait drawing was to add clothing. I wanted the clothing to match the energy and style of the line work that's underneath. I stuck to a simple color palette so the focus would be on the stroke work and not the colors but still used interesting colors that contrast and compliment each other. the limited color palette also unifies the piece.

I used graphite pencils and prismacolor markers overtop of the graphite.

I started with line drawings with brief observational sketches of people. They had lots of movement and personality. I layered color over top of the people in the shape of clothes to add more solidity to the figures. And almost slow them down as they seem as they are moving because they were drawn quickly. ti adds more certainty to the figures. the lines are still quick tho as to match the lines energy underneath.
