Inspired Collage

King Frog

Pt 2.

My work was made with a pencil, alcohol based prismacolor markers, a thick piece of recycled paper, and some fiddling around. To start off I made a rough sketch with pencil. I was trying to get a rough outline of the most prominent shapes in my collage. next, I found markers that matched the colors in my collage and on a piece of scrap paper tested the ways they blended together. to follow up, I systematically layered the marker on starting with the lightest colors and working to dark. As I added more layers a depth of field appeared.

I used Line to outline everything in my collage reproduction. I used simple shape to give a more abstracted look to the reproduction as a whole. I used color to to unify and add emphasis. I left white space to add emphasis so things wouldn't get muddled together. I used value to add more contrast to the most prominent figures in the reproduction (the King Frog and fox).

I am most proud of my King Frog, it's acurite to the zine cutting but has more character. another thing I like about my Frog King is the way I layed the markers on his skin and coat. One thing I struggled with was the smaller more complex black and white cuttings of my collage. I overcame the complexity by abstracting them.
