SI 1, on the porch

on the porch

9x12

Colored pencil, Graphite, marker

Ideas: For my first investigation I was trying to get into the idea of my project. I stayed simple with my subject to show the huge affect some simple plants can have on the atmosphere making a dull porch seem more inviting.

Materials: For this Idea I used alcohol based Prismacolor markers and Prismacolor markers. I also used a black Prismacolor marker to add form to architectural parts of the work. I used the green markers to make the foliage pop off the dull background.

Process: I stuck to places and mediums I was familiar with. This way I could get familiar with my idea. I used colored pencils and markers which are the mediums I am most familiar with to draw my own front porch. The top porch appears more steriel and bleek, while the bottom porch has a more lively, welcoming feeling. a simple color pallet unifys both views of the porches. A dark shadow at the bottom of the frame adds weight to an otherwise light piece.
