Al's Boat.

(1 For this project I chose a picture of Al's boat. I used both white and black charcoal to get a full tonal range throughout the drawing. (2 To start I made a 1 inch grid on the printed out photo and on the larger paper so my drawing would be to skale. I then sketched it out and began adding in rough charcoal. I then bended with a tortillion and added highlights to finish. for the highlights I used a white charcoal. (3 I used the white charcoal instead or eracing so the white would stand out more then the color of the paper (a grayish midtone). (4 My final product is an accurate representation of the photograph I was sourcing off of. My favorite part of the drawing is the tarp on the boat, it looks nice and cloth like. one thing I struggled with was getting a consistent white color with the white charcoal. Next time I would spend more time working with the white charcoal to get a more consistent texture.
