Abstract Shoe Drawing

1) For this project, I started out by sketching in the lines in between all the sea life. (These lines came from a zoomed in section of a contour drawing of a shoe. I achieved a zoomed in look by using a viewfinder.) I then sketched in the different water animals starting with pencil and going over with various Sharpies. 2) To make my sea animals I used sharpies, I layed down a basic coat or marker and then went back putting little dots all around the edges of the animals to create depth. 3) my project started off as one singular animal (the crab). I gradually added in other sea life creating an engaging seascape.

throughout this piece I used multiple compositional techniques. I created balance by evenly spreading the forms of the sea animals. I created contrast and emphasis by choosing to leave the background without color, this makes the green stand out. I showed movement by making the shape of my fish and animals in a position that suggested movement. by using the same color pallet I created unity.

One thing I struggled with was what to begin with for a drawing, I overcame this by walking around the room and coming back to my paper with a fresh point of view. my favorite part has to be the color of all the animals, It creates such a nautical vibe and it brings all the animals together.
