Cool Cow, graphite watercolor black Ballpoint pen, 9 X 12
Hear we have a cow. There's no real story to it I just like cows and the black ink splot remind me of a spot on a cow. That's why I drew a cow. I chose to add horns because I think they look really cool.
To begin with I used a pencil and eraser. Then I erased everything and added watercolor over the ghost of my final graphite sketch. After I was done with watercolor I outlined the important parts of the drawing with a black ballpoint pen adding some detail where necessary.
I used line to emphasize the final drawing. I used texture to create pattern in the grass. I used value to create contrast and depth in the cow. I used shape to create the spots on the cow. I also used color. One way I experimented with this peace was by testing watercolor color mixtures before putting them on my cow. My project started off as a graphite sketch and slowly evolved as I added layers of watercolor to different parts of the drawing finishing with the grass. My next step would to add some vague blue skies and light green hills for the background.
