elements of nature

fish candle holder

I created a candle holder whish represents two elements of nature. It's in the shape of a fish which represents water and it holda a candles flame which represents the element of fire. I really like the form of fish in all art forms andi thought a fish candle holder would bring an intresting amount of juxtaposition. Originaly had the fish in a more bannana like shape but had to square off eithor end somehwat to create some more stability. Fins near the tail also create stability. I used a big coil and sculpted it into the fish shape and then carved away acess clay in the bottom. I also made a hole through the candle holding end to make sure evrything was thin enough. For glazeing I thought a dripping patern would be intresting to mirror the potentially dripping candle wax but I dont love how it blended with the base Deep Olive Speckle. If I could change one thing, I would a more cool green glaze, or just drips on dry clay.
