Ideas: For this project my goal was to make traditional landscape from a personal landscape photograph. I wanted a clear Sunny day feeling to come out of this drawing. I used a photo of a place that is dear to me so I was able to work with the feel of the atmosphere more comfortable

Materials: For this project, I worked on mahogany slates. I used charcoal then woodburning over that.

Processes: To create a sunny clear vibe I created a vivid horizon line. this make it clear to the viewer's eye that there is no haze in the air. To convey that it's a bright sunny day, I used lots of value to create contrast between the shadows in the tree branches with the light grass and branch tips that the sunlight is catching. The white charcoal was especially helpful with adding sunspots and to brighten up the sky. To create the feel of a traditional landscape, I used clear layers. 1: The foreground, which I seperated from the mid ground with sunlit grass. 2: Midground, which is the biggest area of the photo and the drawing. Finally 3: The background, which is the ocean and the sky with the strongest contrast to the dark foreground
