Happy mug

3.5'' x 3.5" x 2.5"

For this project I made a short stubby mug. For this peace I used the coil technique I started with a spherical to cube shape piece of clay and worked it into a snake by rolling it back in froth on the table applying even pressure. I then cut a circular slab for the base and began coiling my snake upwards. For were the coil from the layer above would rest I used slip welding the layers together more surly. I kept this a small coco mug to give it a cozy feel. the thick walls give it a comforting heavy weight to the hand holding it. After I smoothed the ridges of the coil over I used a metal carving tool to add the peae sign smiley and Happy wave. For glaze, I used a yellow glaze because it looks happy to me. I'm extremely happy with this piece and can say it's a great coco mug. I like the thick rim on my lips. Only complaint is I wish it held a little more coco.
