SI 9, Nordic sunset

Idea: My Idea for this painting was to incorporate feedback. The elements I would be adding included a presence of people, a more consistent color palette, along with more rhythm and unity. I wanted to create a cozy n warm feeling painting, despite the setting being outside in the winter.

Materials: For materials I used watercolor and gouache.

Process: I started with a color wash for the sky, adding cloud detail to it later. i then began blocking in color in the foreground and midground leaving the trees and buildings and people for last. Adding a bit of yellow, orange or red to all of the colors I mixed helped keep the color palet arm and consistent. for unity and rhythm, I tried to keep the trees looking similar. In addition, the somewhat limited color palette creates unity. the two people skiing next to each other heitends the friendly cozy feel of the scene.
