I definitely feel as though I was successful in foundations of art this year. It was loads of fun yet I was still challenged in many places. The assignment I struggled with the most was the gridded portrait, first off it tested my patience. Second of all, I like creating and viewing abstract art the most so it wasn't my favorite subject matter and technique either. I worked though this project by keeping myself from getting to caught in the details and taking frequent brakes. In then end I produced a product I was happy with.
My favorite project this year was the extended blind contour drawing. To begin with it tested my eye. I then proceeded to morph weird hands into a squirly drawing of a fox eating a pineapple and a fudge-pop. I enjoyed how much freedom I had to transform the hands into something else.
My least favorite project was the linear perspective drawing, again just something tedious that I'm not as interested in (the "left brained" aspect of art if you will). I suppose I could have made it more interesting for myself by adding more things in the hallway but I found the set perspective limeting.
Thanks for doubling my love of art with your rad teachings, Oliver Quinn Beardsley-Stites
