For this project I was planning on creating a stack of fish. I accomplished this but took out the middle fish for esthetic and time related reasons. In total I used six punch pots, three for each fish. Each fish was made with tail a midsection and a head. I used the pinch technique, starting with a chunk clay and worked it into my neaded shape. I started by pushing in the center so I had a finger shaped hole. From that whole I worked outward, pinching the clay surrounding the whole into the wall of my three individual pieces. After my fish pieces were connected together by scratching-water-attaching I moved on to underglazing. I used a blue to keep with an watery theme. Next, I carved the details of the fish, such as a scale patterns, gills, eyes, and a mouth. After sgraffito-ing my piece and it was fired I added jade glaze over top of my underglaze to fill in my carved lines making them jade colored. I am really happy with this piece and there isn't anything I would change about it.
