eccentric teapot

For this project, the firs tthing that came to mind was a Japanese Macaque... Becasue they are alwase sitting in steaming hotpsrings and tea pots have a similar life, and they are also my favorite animal and  I tend to veer towards animals and nature when i'm looking for inspiration of osmehting 3D. The idea of coils was also apealing as it's a slow process forcing you to apreceate the process. This also realtes to tea, pyou must let tea steap to really enjoy it, which takes patience. Building the general shape was not a walk in the park however, It's by far the msot advanced and timeconsuming piece of ceramics. I have made, and it shows... I'm prowd of him. But once I was coiled up to are the monkeys sholders are now I had to close in the front of his chest and then cut a hole in his back as to access the center/ inside of the monkety to work on structure and smoothing. After the rudamentary form was down I began layering on clay and then smoothing it down to the shape I wanted for the sholders and head. The face was exrteamly fun and challenging to get right, and also rewarding. Finnally after lots of smoothing and dry sanding before and after bisque fiering I got to pick out glaze. I wnt with PC-30-Temmoku PC-20-Blue Rutile. These layered in two coats with PC-30 on the bottom and PC-20 on the top, would create a drifty blue over rih earth tonese proper for a water monkey
